Our Lady of Grace Gate

Entrance door to the town on the east side, it has a chapel-oratory dedicated to Our Lady of Grace, in the place where there should already be a niche with an image that tradition says was offered in thanksgiving after the siege of 1246 (in the dispute between Sancho II and Afonso III). This chapel-oratory was renovated in 1727, on the initiative of a magistrate from India, Bernardo de Palma, in fulfilment of a promise from his daughter, who died of thwarted love for a local young man, then transforming the turret into a temple, with chancel, altarpiece, choir, tribune and sacristy, in which the nave is nothing more than the passage of the street through its interior.
It was once the main access to the town of Óbidos.
