Fountains Route

Starting/ending point at Largo do Coreto (bandstand plaza), next to the fountain. In this route it will be possible to find and contemplate numerous fountains, springs and water mines – Santa (Holy) , Ulmeiro (Elmtree), Formiga (Ant), Mina da Cerca (Fence Mine), 22 de Julho (July 22nd), etc; very tipical and abundant in this village. Leaving the historic center the old wind mills will soon be at sight and the panoramic view is breathtaking, speciallly facing the NorthWest, watching the Arnóia ́s reservoir and the Atlantic ocean on the horizon line. Going along vineyards and old pinewoods we reach the Saint Mary Madeleine ́s Church and the beautifull surrounding areas. We ́ll then walk through very old dirt roads and singletracks surrounded by orchards, vineyards, vegetable gardens and old mediterranian bushes and groves. The Arnóia ́s reservoir views are stunning and as we reach its banks it will possible to watch the richness of wild fauna and flora. After climbing towards and along the village we finish with the magnificent panoramic view of the monumental Parish Council threshing floor.
